A Festive Afternoon in the Ballroom

The last ‘In The Ballroom’ social gathering of 2019 on 18th December was the traditional Christmas special. Trevor Langley and the Singwell Community Choir led the carol singing, and in the interval, Unlocking Warwick volunteers distributed slices of fruit cake, mince pies, stollen bites and a few brownies to go with the tea and coffee.

Then Helen produced her usual brain-teasing quiz, this time with a seasonal flavour. Some of the twenty-four questions were pretty tricky. Do you know the answers to these questions?*

  • In the film, ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’, who played Scrooge?
  • In which country is Lapland located?
  • Which Ocean is Christmas Island in?
  • What kind of Christmas does Elvis Presley sing about? White – red – blue or snowy?
  • If you were born on Christmas Day, what’s your star sign?

Here are some pictures from the afternoon.

‘In The Ballroom’  will continue throughout 2020 on the second Wednesday of the month from 2pm – 4pm in the Jury Street Court House. Except the new year edition will be on the third Wednesday – January 15th – when there will be a presentation on the Story of the Court House and its place in the administration of the town.

In 2020 the entry fee will be slightly higher to cover rising costs. After 5 years at £2, it will be 50 pence more at £2.50, the same as for the Tea and Dance Lessons in the Court House on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

You can find all the planned talks and activities for next year on this website. Click on ‘In The Ballroom’ on the Home Page.
