‘It’s a lovely way to spend a dingy afternoon’, said one of the guests at the November edition of the Tea and Dance Lessons in the Court House ballroom.
Some of those who turned up had little or no experience of ballroom dancing, and enjoyed learning the basic steps of the social foxtrot and the waltz under the guidance of Chris, a professional teacher from Majestic Dance. Others hadn’t taken to a ballroom floor for many years. One said that as a girl she would go dancing at The Palais in Leamington, (later the Embassy Ballroom).
In the interval between the two dancing sessions, Unlocking Warwick volunteers provided tea, coffee and a selection of cakes, and there was plenty of time to chat and get to know each other. One couple had moved to Warwick from the USA a few months ago, and enjoyed meet some of those who have lived here all their lives.
The Tea and Dance Lessons happen at 2pm on the first Tuesday of the month and cost just £2.50 including the refreshments. The next session will be on Tuesday 3rd December.
Next year the sessions will move to the fourth Tuesday of the month. There’s no need to book. So make a note in your 2020 diaries, and come along for a friendly afternoon of gentle exercise, rhythmic movement and pleasant company at the Court House Tea and Dance Lessons.
