BBC Interview about Visiting Warwick
On Friday 7th April, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire interviewed Unlocking Warwick’s Secretary, Rick Thompson, outside the Tourist Information Centre in the Court House, about the wide range of attractions for visitors to the town, and the role of the volunteer group in staging community activities.
The interview by roving reporter Keith Wedgebury was broadcast live from the entrance to the Pageant Garden into the Brody Swain programme at lunchtime.
Rick pointed out that while a trip to Warwick Castle is a good day out, a visit to the town itself is also a great day out, with plenty going on to suit all ages. And there are also lots of events throughout the year for Warwick residents to enjoy. For example on Tuesday 11th April the Town Council will start holding a series of monthly Tea Dances in the Court House, which already hosts a monthly social club called ‘In the Ballroom’. And there’s be dancing of a very different kind on May 27th when ’80s Tropicana’ will be an evening celebrating the eighties with a disco, supper, quiz and some dressing-up.
Keith Wedgebury was interested to know about the Court House Tours offered on Bank Holidays by Unlocking Warwick, and later he took his radio car to the Market Place to hear about the Trivia Trail tours. He also went to see the refurbished Market Hall Museum, and to have a look at the French Market.
You can hear the interview on BBC C&W’s Listen Again service on their website here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04wts7j It’s at 1 hour 17 mins and 30 secs into the Brody Swain Programme.
