Carry On In The Ballroom

The monthly social gathering ‘In the Ballroom’ will carry on throughout 2018 after some excellent feedback from its first year of activities.

Organised by a team of Unlocking Warwick volunteers and the Town Council, ‘In the Ballroom’ in the Jury Street Court House has featured this year a range of talks about Warwick, presentations, a games afternoon, a regular quiz and always some tea or coffee with fine cakes.

A recent questionnaire handed out to guests produced some very favourable feedback. Guests particularly enjoyed the quizzes, the beetledrive, the Christmas carols, and the talks about Warwick.

So it has been decided to continue ‘In the Ballroom’ throughout next year. In 2018 it will happen on the first Thursday of each month – easy to remember. So get your 2018 diaries out and make a note of the provisional schedule:

  • 4th Jan. The ever-popular local historian Graham Sutherland will unveil some of Warwick’s darker side.
  • 1st Feb. By popular demand a Games Afternoon with a beetledrive.
  • 1st March. A talk about the Guy’s Cliff Garden restoration project.
  • 5th April. Hidden Depths. Trevor Langley talks about our local canal network.
  • 3rd May. Photographs and memories of Warwick. Bring your own old photos.
  • 7th June.  Summer cream tea with entertainment.

Every ‘in the Ballroom’ social gathering is from 2pm to 4.30pm and costs just £2 per person.

Clearly there may have to be changes to the above schedule, so keep your eyes on the website as we move into the New Year.
