Charity boost from Fashion Show
On September 29th, the Regency ballroom in the Jury Street Court House was transformed into a fashion showcase with a catwalk and models showing autumn and winter collections from local outlets NV Her and Warwick Sports.
It was all in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity the chosen cause of the Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Christine Cross. The evening raised over £1,000 to contribute to research into this dangerous cancer, and to help fund the charity’s support programmes for those affected.
The audience was told that brain tumours have an average 15% survival rate, but research into the condition attracts only 1% of total cancer research funding. It gets no money from the government, relying entirely on fundraising and donations, which last year amounted to more than £4.5 million raised by the Brain Tumour Charity. www.thebraintumourcharity.org
The ballroom was packed with spectators for the show, where ‘wearable’ clothes were modelled – warm winter jumpers and coats, leather dresses and finely cut jackets.
The Court House ballroom in the centre of Warwick is becoming more and more popular for a wide variety of functions and events. Call the Visitor Information Centre on 01926 492212 if you want to find out more about hiring the venue.
