Christmas Ball Sold Out!
This year’s Warwick Christmas Regency Ball on December 9th has already sold out on pre-sale ticket orders. And it’s only July! Numbers have to be limited, to allow enough space for two lines of dancers and a small stage for the dance-caller and the live musicians.
Some of those ordering tickets might change their minds, so if you want to join a standby list, email regencyball@unlockingwarwick.org (Tickets cost £21 – or twenty guineas)
The annual Christmas Regency Ball in the Jury Street Court House, organised by Unlocking Warwick, has become a feature of the town’s calendar since it was launched in 2014, reviving the assemblies that took place in the ballroom in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Most of the guests enjoy dressing up in period costume, with some fabulous dresses and a few military uniforms on show. And during the interval, Unlocking Warwick volunteers usually devise a brief presentation about the significance of the ball in high society during Jane Austen’s time.
Clearly the Warwick Ball has become hugely popular – with local people and with dancers who travel from other parts of the country to begin the Christmas period in Regency style.
