Christmas Cheer in the Ballroom
On December 6th, the monthly social ‘In the Ballroom’ got into the festive spirit. The afternoon began with mulled wine, hot from the kitchen, followed by tea, Christmas cake and mince pies. And there was carol singing and a seasonal quiz.
The ballroom in the Jury Street Court House was packed for this popular annual event, and everyone clearly got into the Christmas spirit.
The SingWell Community Choir led by Trevor Langley performed some beautiful carols, and there was plenty of opportunity for the audience to join in, with the words displayed on a big screen. For ‘Jingle Bells’, Trevor produced a bag of percussion instruments – tambourines, a triangle, shakers, and – of course – sleigh bells. You can see a video-clip of Jingle Bells here:

Helen Fellows had devised a Christmas-themed quiz. How would you have fared? Here are three sample questions: After leaving Bethlehem, which country did Joseph, Mary and Jesus travel to? What is the name of the boy in the 1982 film, The Snowman? In which Christmas-themed film does Hugh Grant star as a British Prime Minister?*
The first social gathering of the New Year will be on Thursday 10th January from 2pm to 4pm, when there will be games and activities as well as the usual tea and cake. It costs just £2 to attend and there is no need to book.
From February onwards, “In the Ballroom’ will be on the second Wednesday of each month. You can find out the theme each month by looking at our What’s On in Warwick on this website.
A Merry Christmas to all!
