Christmas Cheer in the Ballroom

It was a thoroughly festive afternoon in the Court House on December 7th when the monthly social gathering, “In the Ballroom”, enjoyed a special Christmas edition.

Guests took part in a seasonal quiz, and were entertained by a programme of music and readings devised by Trevor Langley, with the Singwell Community Choir leading the carol singing.  The words were projected on to a big screen, so the audience could join in with gusto.  There were even some percussion instruments on hand for a lively version of Jingle Bells.

The carols included some old favourites such as Oh Little Town of Bethlehem and Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and the choir performed some more modern carols with descants and some fine harmony singing.

The tea and coffee served by Unlocking Warwick volunteers came with some delicious cakes and mince pies.

Later this month in the ballroom, there will be the last Tea Dance of the year at 2pm on 12th December, and on Christmas Day there will be The Warwick Town Christmas Lunch for local people who would otherwise be on their own for Christmas. (If you know someone who might enjoy a free traditional Christmas lunch and some company on 25th, call Terry and Liz on 01926 710284 or 07795 291397).

“In the Ballroom” will continue throughout 2018 on the first Thursday of each month, with a talk or activity, tea and coffee, cakes and time to chat. The monthly social gathering is organised by Unlocking Warwick for the Town Council. Details from the Visitor Information Centre.
