Don’t miss the Courtroom Drama

Half the tickets have already been sold for Unlocking Warwick’s re-enactment of a famous murder trial that took place in Warwick 200 years ago.

‘The Trial of Abraham Thornton for the Murder of Mary Ashford’ will take place in the ballroom of the Jury Street Court House on Sunday 6th October – the final day of the Warwick Words History Festival.

Tickets at just £12 are available from the Visitor Information Centre or call the Warwick Words box office on 01926 334418. The drama isn’t suitable for under twelves.

The trial gripped the nation and was to make legal history. It will be recreated using the original court records and performed in collaboration with the drama departments of Warwick School and King’s High School. 

Doors will open at 7.30pm with the trial beginning at 8pm. A bar will be available while the members of the jury consider their verdict. There were some unexpected developments after the verdict had been delivered…
