First Aid Training Session
On September 7th, members of Town Council Staff and some of the volunteers who organise community events at the Court House underwent a full-day training session in Emergency First Aid at Work.
Martyn Coton from Warwickshire First Aid Training used various pieces of equipment and videos to give practical advice on how to treat people who have collapsed, fallen, suffered from cuts or burns, or experienced seizures, before the emergency services arrive at an incident.
There was practical training in CPR and the operation of defibrillators in the event of cardiac arrest.
At the end there was a written exam. If the trainees are given pass marks by independent assessors, they will receive certificates and cards showing they are qualified in emergency first aid for the next two years. We hope this will provide assurance to any visitors to the Court House and Visitor Information Centre that if someone falls ill or has an accident, there will be staff or volunteers on hand who will know how to give first aid safely and correctly.
