Gardening in the Ballroom 1st March

Four years ago Guy’s Cliffe Walled Garden was derelict

The March edition of the welcoming social tea in the Court House ballroom will feature a talk about the restoration of Guy’s Cliffe Walled Garden and a gardening-related quiz.

Tony Brown will give an illustrated presentation about the project to restore the walled garden that was part of the kitchen garden of Guy’s Cliffe House on the Coventry Road from 1770 to the 1940s when it became derelict and completely overgrown.

Four years ago a dedicated team of volunteers began restoring the garden to its former glory. It is now a great place to visit and to buy fruit, vegetables and plants. But there’s still work to be done to complete the restoration.

You can test your own gardening knowledge in the quiz, and there will be the usual tea, coffee and cake served by Unlocking Warwick volunteers, with plenty of time to chat.

Volunteers are now restoring the lovely garden

In the Ballroom on Thursday March 1st will be from 2pm to 4.30pm and costs just £2 to cover the cost of refreshments.

There’s no need to book; just turn up.

These monthly social gatherings are supported by Warwick Town Council, the Big Lottery ‘Awards for All’ and the King Henry VIII Endowed Trust.
