Heritage Tours ‘Much Appreciated’
A total of 27 people attended the two Court House Tours during the Heritage Open Days weekend – 9th and 10th September – conducted by Unlocking Warwick’s Sue and Rick.
The visitors were very attentive and said the information about the Court House and it’s role in the history of Warwick was much appreciated.
Most of the guests came from the local area – Coventry, Leamington, Kenilworth and Warwick, but a few were visiting the county town from further afield, with one woman from southern Germany who had been visiting a friend in the Cotswolds.
In very warm weather, they were able to hear about the Great Fire of Warwick that happened at this time of year in 1694 after a similar period of dry conditions. And they enjoyed seeing the Council Chamber and the elegant Ballroom, both available for hire for private functions.
These tours concluded the 2023 summer series of free Court House Tours. Including a bespoke tour for members of the Kenilworth History Society, about 100 people joined our tours this year. The volunteers will decided later if the tours will resume next year.
