History Fair Oct 7th
Come and meet some of the Unlocking Warwick volunteers at the Warwick Words History Fair on Saturday 7th October. This year it’s being held in the refurbished Market Hall Museum between 10am and 2pm.
Groups that celebrate the county’s rich heritage in various ways will have stands to explain what they do, including Heritage and Culture Warwickshire, the Warwickshire Local History Society, the Kenilworth Local History Society, the Oxfam Bookshop in Leamington Spa, the Southam Heritage Collection, the Knowle Local History Society, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, the Warwickshire Gardens Trust, the Dugdale Society, the Genealogy Genie, and of course Unlocking Warwick.
We’ll be pleased to tell you about the events we stage in the Jury Street Court House, the regular social group held in the ballroom, our work to support the Visitor Information Centre, our Court House Tours through the summer which introduce visitors to the history of the town, and our research into court cases heard in Warwick in past centuries, illuminating social conditions at the time.
You might consider joining our volunteer group. We are a friendly crowd, and you can do as much or as little as you want.
The History Fair is also an opportunity to look round the superb Market Hall Museum, recently refurbished with the help of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
