Latin Warmth on a Cold Day

There were squalls of sleet and hail on Tuesday 25th February, but the weather didn’t put off people coming to the monthly Tea and Dance Lessons in the Jury Street Court House ballroom. And they soon warmed up as dance-master Chris put them through the basic steps of some Latin American ballroom classic, including the cha cha and the tango.

Then there was tea, coffee and cake in the interval, while the rain spattered the windows outside.

The Tea and Dance Lessons are organised by Unlocking Warwick for the Town Council every fourth Tuesday of the month from 2pm to 4pm. They are suitable for anyone. If you’re familiar with the dances, you can just glide rounds the floor. If you are a beginner, Chris will teach you the moves.

Ballroom dancing is very good gentle exercise, helping flexibility and balance, as well as being good fun. And there’s plenty of time to chat and make friends. The sessions cost just £2.50 to include the refreshments.

If you know of someone who would particularly enjoy these afternoons in the ballroom, suggest they come along to the next session on Tuesday March 24th and put a spring in their step. With luck, the weather will be more springlike.
