Very nice comments about the Jane Austen Tea
Guests who came to the Jane Austen Tea in the Ballroom on 8th October certainly enjoyed the experience judging by the nice words they wrote on the comments sheet at the door as they left for home.
‘Great idea – more please!’ ‘Really enjoyed it’. ‘Brilliant – Keep it up!’ ‘Excellent afternoon beautifully put together’. ‘Fantastic afternoon – brilliant entertainment’. ‘Highly enjoyable singing and tea!’ A lovely afternoon!’
Well – that’s what the volunteers were hoping for! Thank you for the thank-yous.
The sell-out event, Unlocking Warwick’s contribution to the Warwick Words History Festival, featured dance demonstrations by the Jane Austen Dancers from Bath, presentations about the significance of balls in the early nineteenth century high society, and contemporary songs from mezzo-soprano Imogen Parker.
And of course there was the authentic Regency tea, with hot crumpets and madeira cake served on fine bone china.
Our next period event in the ballroom will be the Christmas Regency Ball on December 9th, which also sold-out very quickly. The Unlocking Warwick volunteers will hope to stage some more period events or concerts in the Court House ballroom next year.
