Warwick’s Town Ambassadors
From Tuesday 24th July, two ‘Town Ambassadors’ will be visible around Warwick giving directions to visitors, guiding them to the main attractions or shopping areas, distributing town maps and showing them to the Visitor Information Centre if they need leaflets, souvenirs or tickets from the box office there.
Grace and Harry are university students studying languages and philosophy respectively. They’ve been engaged during their summer vacations by the Visitor Information Centre, with the help of a small grant from Warwick District Council, to offer a friendly welcome to visitors and to help them enjoy their experience of the county town.
They should be easy to spot. They’ll be wearing bright orange polo shirts bearing the town’s logo, with ‘Town Ambassador’ on the back.
Liz Healey, Manager of the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) says, ‘If the weather is really bad, they’ll provide valuable help in the VIC, greeting visitors there, selling tickets and keeping the Visit Warwick website up to date. But we hope the fine weather will continue so that they can be out and about each week, from Warwick Station to the bus station and the main car parks, as well as in the town centre, greeting visitors with a smile and giving them directions to the best Warwick can offer’.
And there’s always plenty going on in Warwick. You can check events on our ‘What’s On in Warwick – at a Glance’ on this website under ‘Events’.
