After 2 years of Covid restrictions, the social ‘In The Ballroom’ at the Court House was back on 9th March, with guests saying how much they appreciated the return of some good company, with a talk, a quiz and tea, coffee and cakes.
The speaker for this first In The Ballroom was author and raconteur, Graham Sutherland, with an illustrated talk about holidays and how they have changed over the centuries. Entitled ‘Wish You Were Here’, he told how people’s time away from work had changed dramatically over the centuries, from pilgrimages in medieval time – to the growth of spa towns such as Leamington and coastal resorts; and now to exotic locations across the globe.
‘In The Ballroom’ will happen on the second Wednesday of each month between 2pm and 4pm in the elegant Regency ballroom in the Jury Street Court House, just above the Visitor Information Centre.
To ensure there is no overcrowding for this popular monthly get-together, it is essential to book your place in advance by popping-in to the Warwick Visitor Information Centre or calling them on 01926 492212. Or you can email Trudy on firstname.lastname@example.org
The next meeting will be on April 13th when wildlife writer Rick Thompson will talk about the spring in our local parks, and how to identify the birds arriving from Africa.
