It is a fascinating museum, manned by volunteers who can tell dramatic tales of the brave exploits of the regiment since it was first raised in 1794.
There are many artefacts, uniforms, medals and weapons on show, including a field gun captured from the Turkish army at Huj in Palestine during WW1. The Yeomanry charged the position on horseback in the last unsupported cavalry charge in the history of warfare. The charge is commemorated in a painting by the noted artist, Lady Butler.
During the Second World War, the regiment exchanged its horses for tanks and served in the North Africa Campaign. The museum is well worth a visit. The entrance is just inside the Castle Street door of the Court House.
