Warwicks of the World
The theme of the Unlocking Warwick tree at this year’s Christmas Tree Festival in St. Mary’s Church is ‘Warwicks of the World’.
There are more than twenty cities, towns and villages with Warwick in their name, most of them in the USA. It’s thought that they all take their name from the original Warwick – our county town founded by Athelflaeda in the year 914.
Gina Tipton has sought out the places called Warwick across the world, and provided pictures of a selection of them, to be suspended on our Christmas tree by keys.
The farthest away is in Australia, and the smallest is probably the Warwick in North Dakota – population 55.
You can see the pictures on the cards and read about their origins on this link: Xmas Tree 2025 Cards For Website
The Christmas Tree Festival in St. Mary’s Church with decorated trees from about sixty local organisations, schools and businesses opens on Victorian Evening on November 27th, and will be available to see until December 7th.
